Hounds & Jackals
This is a very ancient Egyptian game that was a favorite of the Pharaohs including Tutankhamun. The name comes from the use of long pegs with the heads of dogs and jackals to play the game. It’s a race game, but the actual rules played thousands of years ago are unknown. Game historians have devised several sets of rules that can be played on the board, but the biggest discrepancy in these rules is the path that the pegs are to follow as the race is run. So, in a way, Hounds and Jackals is actually several games in one, and players can choose the rules they like best.
