The game of Fanorona has a long history, with its roots in Arabian move-and-capture games. The people of Madagascar adapted the rules to boards of various sizes, and Fanoron-Dimy is one of the smaller variants. The method of capture is unusual, in that approaching an opponent’s piece, or withdrawing from it, will capture it, plus any enemy pieces in a straight line beyond it! The board can empty very fast and seeing the powerful patterns on the board takes some practice.
This game can be played by 2 players ages 6 and up. One game of Fanoran-Dimy takes about 20 Minutes to play.
