In ancient Egypt, there were several games that were popular among the ruling classes. These have been found in tombs throughout the middle east. But a game that has survived even longer than those is Tâb. It was played more by the common folk, and so no fancy game sets are in museums. But reference to the game survive, and this is a modern incarnation over 4,000 years later. It’s one of the few running fight games known, and as the pieces move according to the stick dice, they capture opposing pieces to win. Movement through the spaces at the edges is restricted by certain rules, but the center two rows are where most of the conflict takes place. It’s a fun game and deserves to be recognized as a classic.
