Alexander Randolph’s “Ishi” is a very challenging 2-phase strategy game. If you don’t win, it doesn’t mean you lose. The first phase is a placement game with elements of Go (Wei Chi) and Nimm games - the loser is the player forced to play the last peg. In the second phase, pegs are withdrawn in a similar fashion in which the loser is the player forced to take the last peg. There are tight restrictions on how many pegs can be played which takes the game far beyond a simple pattern-making challenge. Made in USA for 2 players ages 8+.
